My Therapeutic Approach
As a South Asian individual and budding clinician, my goal as your therapist is to provide a space where you can self-actualize in a way that is both beneficial and authentic to you. I approach therapy through an integrative, client-centered lens, drawing from various theories and activities that best support your unique needs.
I believe that you are the expert on your life—I simply bring education and training in mental and emotional health. By combining our strengths, we can work together to create a life that feels genuine and fulfilling to you.
As a clinician, I draw primarily from person-centered, existential, and Gestalt therapies. I also frequently incorporate CBT and ACT. In addition, I emphasize psychoeducation, unconditional positive regard, kindness, and holistic practices such as mindfulness. I believe in a decolonized approach to therapy. Ultimately, I start by getting to know you, and then select theoretical approaches based on the goals you want to pursue during our time together. Therapy is a collaborative process, and your input is valued every step of the way.
I aim to continue building my skills with a variety of populations and individuals, though I have a particular interest in working with South Asian clients. That said, I welcome anyone who feels we may be a good fit. I have extensive experience supporting individuals navigating anxiety and depression across different ages and identities. I am currently in the process of earning my sex therapy certificate to become an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist, as well as completing my LPC licensure.
In my free time, I enjoy reading, binge-watching drama series, and exploring the Chicagoland area. I also love spending time with my friends, family, and partner, and traveling with them. In the future, I hope to pursue a PhD in Clinical Neuropsychology and become a prescribing psychologist.
Please feel free to reach out if you’d like to work with me in any capacity!
“Healing isn't about getting back to who you were before. It's about coming to terms with the new you, the one who survived a storm. It's about accepting that some days will be challenging, and that's okay. It's not a race and certainly not a competition.”
