  • The psychotherapists at Snow Lake Counseling PLLC. are in network with Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO, Optum/United Health, Cigna and Aetna. We are are out-of-network providers with all other insurance companies including medicaid and medicare. Payment is expected at the time of service.

    Co-pay estimates are not a guarantee. Exact co-pay amount is not available until after your insurance claim has been fully processed. Once your claim has been processed your insurance company will send Snow Lake a insurance adjustment fee report that indicates the amount owed by the client.

    We are happy to create statements for you to submit toward your out-of-network benefits and will provide monthly superbills to facilitate reimbursement of your psychotherapy services. We accept HSA cards, Zelle, and all major credit cards for payment.

    We have limited sliding scale availability and prioritize members of marginalized communities.

  • No two therapy sessions look the same. We work to understand your history, your family, your attachment styles, and experiences of the past. After identifying current obstacles and your personal goals, we will find the best path for you together, changing your fundamental relationship with yourself so you’re not holding yourself back. Therapy, just like life, is dynamic and we will utilize our time together to the fullest for your optimal growth.

    In your first appointment you are getting to know your therapist, just as much as we are working to understand you. At the end of the hour we’ll evaluate if and how to move forward together. We will conclude with scheduling, payment details, and a review of our office policies. Our goal is to help you feel at ease and get you on the path to feeling whole again.

  • Upon booking an appointment, you'll receive a link to access your appointment where you can connect with your therapist easily. Our platform can be accessed from any computer, tablet or phone with a web camera. If you are using a tablet or a phone, you may need to download the Telehealth by SimplePractice app first.

    Currently, we are only able to offer virtual therapy appointments with a licensed practitioner for clients in the state of Illinois and Wisconsin.

    Virtual coaching services are available nationwide, regardless of state of residence.

  • Typically, the way that we work with couples is by using the first few sessions for assessment. Once meeting together, two individual sessions, and then a feedback session to establish goals and co-create a treatment plan that will help us get started.

    We work with a variety of relationship dynamics. When working with a relationship of three or more people, we use the same technique listed above. We meet with the whole group initially followed by individual sessions and a group feedback session.

  • Coaching is a practical and sometimes hands-on approach to helping people achieve their goals. The benefits of working with a coach can help stimulate motivation, improve structure and organization skills, identify strengths and shortcomings, teach accountability and so much more.

    Coaching is a good way to enrich a person's identity by defining their values, principles and most of all, their purpose and passion for living. If you are experiencing emotional distress or dysregulation from current or past life experiences, working with a therapist may be more appropriate.

  • To use your out-of-network benefits, you pay the fee directly to our practice at the time of service and then submit your claim to your insurance provider for reimbursement.

    We recommend contacting your insurance provider to find out where to submit the paperwork (they are called superbills) towards your out-of-network benefits and what percentage they will cover for out-of-network providers for behavioral health/mental health services.

    Call the customer service phone number on the back of your insurance card. Tell them you want to find out what your out-of-network benefits are for an: Outpatient Psychotherapy Appointment CPT Code 90837.

  • When you make an appointment with us, we reserve that time slot exclusively for you. As is common practice, we require a minimum of 24-hour notice to cancel or reschedule your session. Failure to cancel, reschedule, or show up for your session without the required 24-hour notice will result in a charge for the full cost of the session. This policy allows our practice to offer the available time slot to waitlisted individuals in need of an appointment.

  • We recognize the importance of ensuring that quality care is within reach for everyone. To enhance accessibility, we provide sliding scale sessions, with a special focus on prioritizing members of marginalized communities.

    Please note that sliding scale options are exclusively offered for our self-pay clients, and these sessions are invoiced directly to the client rather than being billed through insurance.
